Important General
Info:
Each Cotton Monster is
a little (or big) work of art made from recycled clothing and linens
without a pattern, so no two will ever be exactly alike. In
fact Jennifer makes an attempt to make each cotton monster as
different as possible, carefully picking the materials that go into
making each one and intuitively sewing all their parts. Adults
and children alike love Cotton Monsters, however each unique
creature should be considered soft sculpture, not a
toy…
How rough can
I play with my monster?
Every monster deserves to play, just
please be gentle, keeping in mind that your unique creature is made
of recycled materials that already have some wear, and that it is a hand made
object, with hand stitching and fine details. And if played with roughly, tugged or
beat up too much, it WILL tear or rip. Children
should ALWAYS enjoy playing with monsters in the company of an
adult. If you want your monster to retain the quality/look it has when you receive it, then keep it out of the reach of little hands (and don't feel bad, monsters appreciate being admired from afar)
Can I put my
monster in the washing machine?
NO!! It is advised to ensure
a long life, monsters be “spot cleaned only.” Due to the hand-made
nature of the beasts, they cannot be expected to hold up like other
manufactured stuffed animals in a washer. If a monster is involved
in a horrible accident and desperately needs cleaning, you could try
a cold hand wash in the sink with a very mild detergent like
Woolite…but again, this is not recommended. Stuffing will
shift…stitches will loosen.
Do you make
custom monsters?
Not at this moment. I've been overwhelmed by the recent sucess of Cotton Monsters that I'm just too busy trying to keep the store stocked. When this changes, I'll let you know!
What are the
monster’s favorite food? Broccoli, believe it or
not. Cotton Monsters love to pretend to eat your arm, or your
plastic figurines, but they are actually
vegetarians.
Do you have employees
helping make these monsters?
Nope. Right now Cotton Monster is a one-woman
business, and I like it that way! I do everything from shopping for the clothes/linens,
washing, sewing, stuffing to photographing, stocking the online
store, mailing etc. I do have help with my website, created and
updated by Josh Moser of istaonline.com.
I love your monsters, I think I’ll make
some just like yours…
Please don’t. I know there are lots of
monster plushes and stuffies out there, but I’ve attempted to come
up with very original designs to set myself apart from the crowd and
would like to keep it that way. Also, so you know Cotton
Monster designs are copyrighted and I reserve the rights to ALL the
images and content of the website. Trademark pending!
How quickly can I expect to receive my
order?
When you buy a monster using Paypal, I do my best to
send out orders within the following week (keep in mind I have to package and send 20-40 monsters each update). When you send a money order for your purchase, I wait
until I receive payment and it clears before sending your package.
All packages within the US are sent via the US Postal Service. Large Cotton Monsters (Big,Bottomfeeder & Sea Monsters) are sent First Class (4-7 day delivery), due to their large size and weight, and Smaller monsters (Little, Jelly & Pentapods) are sent Priority Mail (2-3 day delivery). However, once it’s in the arms of the postal
service I can’t guarantee its timely arrival. I do purchase
“delivery confirmation” for each package, which gives you a tracking
number so, most of the time, you can see where your package is
online.
I want to order a monster and have it sent
to my friend as a gift, can you do that?
Sure. All
monsters are wrapped up nicely, and the boxes are doodled on with
monster drawings, and I do NOT include a receipt (because that is emailed directly to you) When checking out of the store, just make sure you
write the recipient’s name and address in the “shipping” part of
your order from, and then send me an email ASAP if you would like me
to write a special note inside, or a to: and from: tag. No
charge!
You must love making these! I
do.
